The importance of exchange processes in the 6Li(α,p) 9Be reaction

The angular distributions of protons from the 6Li(α,p) 9Be reactions corresponding to the 3/2- ground state, 2.429 MeV(5/2-) and 4.704 MeV(3/2+) excited states in 9Be have been measured at Eα 26.68 MeV. It is found that these angular distributions have a well-pronounced diffraction structure and peak at the back angles. The experimental angular distributions are compared with the theoretical prediction obtained in terms of the plane wave Born approximation which includes the exchange mode of knock-on of nucleon cluster and heavy particle stripping. It is shown that the exchange processes associated with the break-up of 6Li target nucleus into 5He+p clusters are important
