How strong are weak interactions in the multi-TeV range?

  • 1. Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Hamburg (Germany, F.R.)

Description

Weak interactions at high energies (√s≥m2/αw) may lead to strong multiparticle production of weakly interacting particles. This effect is connected to infrared divergences of the underlying gauge theory. Cross sections for the production of many weakly interacting particles of the order 1 nb to 10 μb above a threshold (parton) energy of 2 to 20 TeV could be observable at future colliders. (orig.)
