Band crossing in the cranking model
Description
It is shown that the result obtained from the cranking model suffers from a large inaccuracy in the description of nuclei, at the rotational frequency where a band crossing occurs. A more reliable picture of the band crossing, which stresses the importance of examining the behaviour of excited states as well as the ground state in the cranking model, is developed. (Auth.)
