Thoron levels in a few dwellings of Peddapalli district, Telangana

Description
The interest on the behavior and its detrimental health effects of thoron, the decay product emanated in the thorium series has been increasing among the researchers. The indoor thoron concentrations are estimated in about 15 dwellings located in Peddapalli district of Telangana State, using LR-115 Type-II Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors based Twin Chamber Cup dosimeters for a period of one year on quarterly basis. The dose rates due to the thoron concentrations are calculated. The seasonal variations of the indoor thoron concentrations have been studied. A detailed statistical analysis of the geological and building factors which influence the indoor thoron concentration will also be discussed. (author)
