The dynamics of heavy ion reactions at relativistic energies

Some selected aspects of nuclear reactions at beam energies below a couple of GeV/nucl. are reviewed. The different dynamical regimes from the micro- to the macro-dynamics and the late expansion stage are discussed and compared with respect to their implications on specific observables like inclusive data or global event observations.
