Application of the symplectic model to the giant resonance states in 16O and 40Ca

Description
The energies and longitudinal electron scattering form factors for the giant monopole and quadrupole states in 16O and 40Ca are calculated in the generator coordinate formalism of the symplectic model. Comparisons are made to experimental data where available and the theoretical significance of the calculation and its results is discussed. (orig.)
