Safe nuclear reactors of the 21st century - proposal for an international project
Description
A need for safe nuclear power generation is of major concern for the non-specialist world public, who are prepared to accept its benefits if a new safety goal is reached to reduce the risk of severe nuclear accidents. Perspective designs have been developed by a number of countries to include other reactor types e.g. the liquid metal fast breeder reactor. The Memorandum proposes the urgent establishment of a 'Safe Nuclear Reactor of the 21st Century' International Project, similar to the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project. An International Scientific and Technical Committee for the Project is recommended
