Electrical characterization during reactions of superconductor oxide precursors
- 1. Northwestern Univ., Evanston, IL (USA)
- 2. Argonne National Laboratory, IL (USA)
Description
Isothermal and temperature-drop (Dorn method) studies of impedance as a function of frequency (5Hz-13MHz) were made during solid state and liquid state reactions of oxide superconductors from various precursors under controlled atmospheres. Several systems were investigated, including Sr-doped La2CuO4, YBa2Cu3Oy, and the Bi-based phases. Kinetic parameters (activation energies, pre-exponents) were calculated for each system as a function of atmosphere. Results can be discussed in terms of plausible reaction mechanisms. Equivalent circuit models relating the impedance response during processing to the evolving microstructure will also be discussed
