Description
The Technical Support Plan for Nuclear Material Control and Physical Protection in Ukraine was coordinated among and approved by potential donee countries and the IAEA. In order to carry out activities defined in the Plan, we started some preparatory work and the current status of such work is described in the paper: (1) Based on a site visit to the Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology, we have investigated how to improve the measurement system at the facilities of the Institute in view of the safeguards criteria of the IAEA. Measurement methods have been identified and proper measurement equipment has been selected. (2) As for the support to the SSAC at the State level, a needs list has been received and is in the process of clarification. (author)
