Preparation for pure 131mXe sample

  • 1. CTBT Beijing National Data Centre and Radionuclide Laboratory, Beijing (China)

Description

Four of the radio xenon isotopes (131mXe, 133mXe, 133Xe and 135Xe) are important monitoring radionuclides compliance with Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). Pure radio xenon isotopes samples are requested for calibration and testing of monitoring equipments. The preparation setup and method for pure 131mXe Samples were established. 131mXe was produced from 131I decay. The impurity 131I in 131mXe gas sample was removed by chemical reacting with AgNO3 solution. Then the pure 131mXe samples were obtained. (authors)
