Data corrections in a deep inelastic muon scattering experiement

Description

The study of deep inelastic muon scattering on protons at high energy is first described after having explained the theoretical motivations involved in this experiment. Then several correction factors on the experimental data are analysed, specially radiative corrections -the calculation method of which is recalled- and acceptance corrections, including some studies using simulated events. Finally having described the extraction method for the structure functions, the first results produced by this analysis are exposed and compared with other results from recent experiments

Abstract (French)

On presente d'abord l'experience, qui est l'etude de la diffusion tres inelastique de muons de haute energie sur des protons, en ayant auparavant precise les motivations theoriques qui y sont attachees. On analyse ensuite les divers facteurs correctifs affectant les donnees experimentales et en particulier les corrections radiatives, dont on rappelle la methode de calcul, et les corrections d'acceptance, en y incluant diverses etudes utilisant des evenements simules. Enfin, apres avoir rappele la methode d'extraction des fonctions de structure, on expose les premiers resultats produits par cette analyse et on les compare a ceux donnes par d'autres experiences recentes
