Possibilities for the reduction of NOx emissions

Nitrogen oxides develop mainly in the combustion of fossil fuels based on three mechanisms: process-dependent thermal NO; prompt NO as well as fuel-dependent NO. The reaction either takes places in the area of the root of the flame or with the combustion gases. A main effect on the amount of developing nitrogen oxides have the fuel, the burner design as well as the heat generator. In the last years considerable emission reductions were attained mainly by design changes of the burner, e.g. gas burners with internal circulation, burners with external exhaust gas recirculation, burners with internal recirculation. Abstract (German)
Stickoxide entstehen im wesentlichen bei der Verbrennung fossiler Brennstoffe ausgehend von drei Mechanismen: prozessabhaengiges, thermisches NO; promptes NO sowie brennstoffabhaengiges NO. Die Reaktionen finden entweder im Bereich der Flammenwurzel oder ueber die Verbrennungsgase statt. Wesentliche Beeinflussungen auf die Menge der gebildeten Stickoxide sind die Brennstoffe an sich, Brennerkonstruktionen sowie Waermeerzeuger. In den letzten Jahren wurden insbesondere durch konstruktive Aenderungen der Brenner wesentliche Emissionsminderungen erzielt, z.B. Gasbrenner mit interner Zirkulation, Brennkopf mit externer Rueckfuehrung, Brenner mit interner Rezirkulation. (BWI)Additional details
