Description
Diffusion mechanisms for the explanation of anomalous diffusion are discussed. Diffusion and isotope effect experiments in β-Zr, β-Zr-Nb alloys, and β-Hf are reported. The results are interpreted by a vacancy mechanism which is enhanced by phonon induced displacive fluctuations (ω-embryos) at lower temperatures. (author)
