Description
Total reaction cross sections are measured on nuclei 45Sc, sup(nat)Ti, 51V, sup(52, 53, 54)Cr for 13.6-MeV deuterons and 27.2-MeV α particles. Irregularities in the behaviour of the reaction total cross sections known as the isotope-isotone effects, are detected. The semi-classical calculations of the total cross sections for the α-particle interactions with nuclei show that the isotope-isotone effect may be explained assuming different density distributions in the surface layers of nuclei for isotopes and isotones. A similar conclusion was drawn also analysing the experimental data on the total interaction cross sections both for deuteron-nuclei and α-particle-nuclei reactions by means of the optical nuclear model. Parameters of the optical potentials are presented that provide with a satisfactory description of the total cross sections and differential cross sections of the elastic scattering on the nuclei investigated
