Non-proliferation safeguards: an American view
Description
The non-proliferation question has been dominated by the development of the IAEA and the NPT. This article discusses a US perspective of non-proliferation safeguards, how the positions and policies on this subject came about, and the apparent responses from other countries to American initiatives in this area. Non-proliferation treaties have been important not only in providing dis-incentives to the spread of nuclear weapons and the resulting destabilization among nations. It also enhances the USA/USSR relationship. (author)
