Radioiodine therapy to out patients

The results are given of the estimation of the activity of 131I deposited in the thyroid glands of members of the households of out-patients who had received radioiodine for the treatment of hyperthyroidism. Data are given against which the significance of these results can be judged. It is suggested that, except where very young children are involved, precautions to minimise contamination should be abandoned. It is further suggested that there need be no upper limit of 131I activity for out-patient treatment in so far as contamination hazards are concerned.
