Description

The paper presents the Research and Development Programme commissioned by Nuclear Electric plc (formerly CEGB) in support of Sizewell 'B' and future UK PWRs with the objective of securing improvements to the aseismic design of piping systems. The Nuclear Electric (NE) aseismic strategy was centred on a formal Exchange of research with EPRI, which has led to participation in the ASME Task Group on Seismic Stress Limits, reviewing proposals for revising the ASME Code.
