Searching for (n,α) and (n,p) reactions on intermediate mass nuclei at neutron energies about 3 MeV

The cross sections were measured of reactions 69Ga(n,α)66Cu, 63Cu(n,α)sup(60m)Co, 55Mn(n,α)52V, 69Ga(n,p)69Zn produced by 3 MeV neutrons and of reaction 27Al(n,p)27Mg at neutron energy of 400 keV. The cross section of the 69Ga(n,α) reaction was determined at 15 +- 10 μb which is in agreement with theore--tical calculations. For the 27Al(n,p) reaction the cross section was determined at 1.8+-1 mb in agreement with previous experimental work. For the other reactions an upper limit of cross section was determined. The cross sections were determined by measurement of induced activity and for this purpose a high sensitivity detector operating in the β-γ coincidence mode was used. (S.P.)
