Description

The authors set out a concise review of the issue of malignant pleural mesothelioma treatment with pleural carcinosis in the case of unsatisfactory results brought by the systematic treatment using maximum cytoreduction with subsequent intrapleural perioperative hyperthermic lavage of thoracic cavity (cytoreductive surgery combined with intraoperative hyperthermic intrathoracalis chemotherapy – HITHOC). They point out the advantages of multimodal cure of the malignant pleural mesothelioma, which has proven the best results so far in the treatment of this malignant disease. Moreover, they represent the very first experience performing HITHOC in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. (author)
