Structure-dependent relaxation resistance of carbon steels

Description
The investigation of the stress relaxation and of mechanical properties of carbon structural steels as a function of their structure has indicated that an increase in the Widmanstaetten structure to 3-point value has been accompanied by that of the relaxation stability of steels at 430 deg C, whereas further increase in the amount of the Widmanstaetten structure has led to a drop in the relaxation stability. The strength at 20 deg C has increased with the amount of the Widmanstaetten structure provided the steel is not overheated, while the plasticity has dropped with the increase in the amount of the Widmanstaetten structure
