Coherent effects in electron losses by channeled ions

Description
A theory is developed of inelastic collisions between ions and a crystal. Analytic expressions are obtained for the probabilities of electron excitation in the ion and for the loss of an electron by the ion during the scattering of the latter by a chain of atoms, thermal vibrations of the lattice being taken into account. It is shown that the probability of the processes in the crystal may vary significantly as compared to that of an amorphous substance as a result of the coherent effect of various atoms of the crystal on the ion
