Phase transformations in high purity alloys of the Fe-Mn system

Description

The diagram of metastable transformations in high-purity Fe-Mn alloys and the phase diagram for the alloys were plotted. It was shown that the greater purity of the alloy, the higher temperature of the onset of the γ → epsilon transformation, this enhancing the degree of the transformation and the amount of resultant epsilon-martensite. A maximum amount of the epsilon-martensite (85%) was obtained in a high-purity Fe-Mn alloy at 17% Mn in hardening from 1100 deg C. It was established that a heat treatment according to various conditions had a negligible effect upon the amount of the resultant epsilon-phase
