Probe for determining the concentration of ferromagnetic particulates in water at high temperature and pressure

  • 1. Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Pinawa, Manitoba. Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment

Description

A device is described which makes possible the measurement of suspended, ferromagnetic particulate concentrations in high-temperature, high-pressure coolant systems. A trapping magnet is used to preconcentrate the suspended material, which is subsequently detected downstream as it passes through the inductance coil of an r.f. oscillator. Some data obtained from a hot-water loop of a nuclear reactor are presented. (author)
