Liquid membrances and process for uranium recovery therewith

Description

A water-in-oil emulsion capable of extracting uranium-containing species from wet process phosphoric acid at a temperature in the range of about 25 degrees Celcius to about 80 degrees Celcius, which emulsion comprises an aqueous interior phase surrounded by a surfactant-containing exterior phase, said exterior phase comprising an extraction component capable of extracting the desired uranium-containing species, and a solvent for said extraction component, said interior phase comprising reactants capable of stripping said uranium-containing species from said extraction component of said exterior phase and converting said uranium-containing species into a non-permeable form
