Surface cyclotron O-modes in planar waveguides of finite width with dielectric sheaths and transverse non-uniformity of plasma concentration

Description

This paper studies the dispersion properties of slow electromagnetic surface O-modes propagating at the electron cyclotron frequency across an external magnetic field in planar metal chambers with dielectric coating and non-uniform plasma filling. Theoretical research into these modes is carried out using the kinetic description for the plasma particles. We investigate the effects of transverse plasma concentration inhomogeneity and finite transverse size of the plasma-filled waveguide on the frequency of electron surface cyclotron O-modes both analytically and numerically. Possible technological applications of these modes are discussed.
