Pulse neutron generator with a laser deuteron source

Description

To develop a controllable neutron source of a fast neutron generator with a laser source of deuterium ions is considered. The generator is a stationary system with a heated metal-glass vacuum chamber and an operating vacuum of 10-5 torr. Deutrons are accelerated in a coaxial three-electrode system at the 130-150 kV voltage and bombard an titanium deuteride target. Neutrons are produced as a result of the D(d,n)3He reaction. The capacity of the generator is more than 106 neutrons per pulse with the energy of 2.3 MeV. The generator can be used to simulate a sealed versions of neutron generator designs or to analyze various geometries of accelerating systems and plasma generating targets
