Application of a parallel encoder in a modified Gray code for recording clusters
- 1. Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)
Description
A modified Gray code, which was employed for constructing a fast parallel encoder, is proposed. Such an encoder enabled not only the recording of the coordinates of single triggered wires in multiwire proportional chambers but also the determination of the coordinates of double and triple clusters. By introducing additional redundancy it was possible to record the coordinates of longer clusters. A scheme of an encoder containing 63 inputs and 9 outputs is proposed. The speed of the device is determined by the type of OR elements employed
