Extension of Glauber theory to large angle scattering of ''Dirac'' protons

Description

An extension of symmetrical T-matrix theory for relativistic description of proton-nucleus scattering is presented. The 4X4 symmetrix T-matriz is reduced to an effective symmetrix 2X2 matriz using projection technique. The resulting non-relativistic looking T-matrix contains relativistic (virtual pain) effects to all orders. Glauber theory is then applied to develop a reasonable approximation which could be valid even at large angles. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Apresenta-se uma extensao da teoria de matriz-T simetrica para descricao relativistica do espalhamento proton-nucleo. A matriz-T simetrica 4X4 e reduzida a uma matiz efetiva simetrica 2X2 usando-se a tecnica de projecao. A matriz-T resultante de aparencia nao relativistica contem efeitos relativisticos (par virtual) para todas as ordens. A teoria de Glauber e entao aplicada para desenvolver uma aproximacao razoavel que pode ser valida, ate mesmo para angulos largos. (M.C.K.)
