Description
The 61Ni Moessbauer spectrum of the square-planar nickel(II) complex [Ni(niox)2] shows substantial quadrupole splitting, e2qQ=-0.97(2) mm s-1, the sign of which demonstrates that the electric field gradient of the non-bonding electrons outweighs that of the bonding electrons donated by the ligands.
