Description
Au and Ag on the stepped W(1-bar 4-bar 5) surface with step width L∼11.6A form quantum stripes up to a thickness of 2 and 3 monolayers (ML), respectively. The 2-bar ML stripes show a one-dimensional E (k-bar ) dispersion which perpendicular to the stripes is determined by a repetition with the reciprocal superlattice vector G=2π/L
