Complexes of lanthanum(III), cerium(III), samarium(III) and dysprosium(III) with substituted piperidines

Complexes of the general formulae M2Cl6(L)3.C2H5OH and M2(NO3)6(L)2.CH3OH have been synthesised by the reactions of chlorides and nitrates of La(III), Ce(III), Sm(III) and Dy(III) with 2-methylpiperidine, 3-methylpiperidine and 4-methylpiperidine. These complexes have been characterised on the basis of their elemental analysis, and IR and electronic reflectance spectra. IR spectral data indicate the presence of coordinated ethanol and methanol molecules and bidentate nitrate groups. Coordination numbers of the metal ions vary from 5 to 8. (author)
