Optimal Design of Side Rolling for Improving Lateral Curvature of Reed Wire

  • 1. Yeungnam Univ., Gyengsan (Korea, Republic of)

Description

This paper is concerned with the improvement of the curvature of the side portion of the reed wire using side rolling because the curvature of the side portion of the wire produced by continuous rolling of cold rolling during production of the reed wire is not suitable for the new functional fiber. The rolling simulation was carried out by finite element modeling of reed wire and rolling using LS-DYNA, a simulation program that can analyze the material behavior of the reed wires. Simulation was conducted by designing five flat rolling and side rolling in the direction of the reed wire. As the design parameters of the side rolling, the angle of the side rolling, the installation position and the shape radius were selected, and the roundness of the side portion of the wire after rolling was selected as the objective function to optimize the design to minimize the numerical value.
