Fluid inclusions and Ti-in-quartz thermometry in granulite from Monapo structure (Mozambique)

This contribution is focused on the mineralogical composition and fluid inclusions in granulite rock from the Monapo structure in Mozambique. The granulite consists of quartz, albite, potassium feldspar, biotite, amphibole, garnet, titanite and accessory monazite. The age of monazite determined by in situ chemical dating corresponds to 573±13 Ma. The temperature of quartz crystallization was determined between 450 and 645 grad C. Primary aqueous inclusions in quartz contained N₂ and CO₂ accompanied by solid phases of nahcolite. Dawsonite and thenardite were closely associated with albite inclusions in quartz. The temperature of homogenization of the gas phase was from -31.5 to 21.8 grad C, whereas the temperature of melting was from -59 to -56.6 grad C, thus corresponding to CO₂-dominant system with N₂ admixture.
