Intercomparison of dosimetry installations (RIV, CNEN and CEA) protection-level exposure standards

  • 1. National Institute of Public Health, Bilthoven (Netherlands)

Description

The National Institute of Public Health was contracted by the Commission of the European Communities to inter-compare the Protection-level Exposure Standards in Italy, France and the Netherlands. In the second instance the RIV received representatives of the English and German Standardizing Laboratories to close the circle in an European personal dosimetry inter- comparison programme. Agreement in the determination of exposure-rate with CEA (France) was within ± 1% for cobalt-60 gamma rays and ISO-83 keV X-radiation. For CSEH (Italy) this agreement was within ± 1% for cobalt-60 gamma-rays and within 6% for the ISO-83 keV X-radiation. Agreements with the laboratories NPL and CEGB in the United Kingdom and PTB, MPA and GSF in Germany were all within ± 1% when measured with protection level instruments. (author)
