There is a future in uranium production

On the basis of its solid market position and of the French nuclear power program, the Cogema Group has been able to improve its economic situation still further, enjoying a front line position on the uranium market as far as competition in the next century is concerned. The Group's major holdings in the new Canadian mines, its diversification into other countries and continents, ensure its continuity of supply and its competitiveness. Its involvement in all stages of the nuclear fuel cycle is proof of the Group's resolution to promote nuclear power in all its ramifications. This also allows all difficulties to be taken into account which the Group's customers, operators of nuclear power plants, could encounter. Now that the former Eastern block countries are turning towards the market economy, development opportunities open up in the uranium sector which Cogema is prepared to explore, also in the interest of its customers. This endeavor will be made easier by the Group's character of a European industrial enterprise and worldwide leader in the nuclear fuel cycle. (orig.)
