Divertor pumping system of ASDEX
- 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Plasmaphysik, Garching/Muenchen (Germany, F.R.)
Description
Considering the principal aims of the experiment ASDEX, Ti sublimation on cryogenic surfaces appeared here to be the better choice for divertor pumping, as there is no problem to achieve a low backstreaming ratio and it is an approved pumping concept. It is quite obvious, however, that in divertor machines closer to a CTR, Ti sublimation will no longer be practicable because of the high temperature environment and the need for a safe tritium handling system. Under these conditions volume getters which reversibly pump hydrogen should be more appropriate
