Description
Operational quantity, personal dose equivalent Hp (d) has been recommended by different international bodies such as ICRU, ICRP, IAEA, ISO etc for use in Individual monitoring for radiation workers. The estimation of Hp (10) requires measurement of dose at 10 mm using the dosimeter worn over the surface of the body as actual measurement below the skin is not possible. Therefore dosimeters meant for measurement of different quantities needs to be tested for compliance of measurement of Hp(10). CaSO4:Dy based TLD badges are designed to measure whole body dose for strongly penetrating X-and γ-ray radiations. Different studies have been carried out to test the performance in terms of Hp(10) using the conventional methodology. The study involving in-situ measurement on phantom is not available in literature except for high energy (6 MeV and 18 MeV) which was limited to the field size of 8 cm x 8 cm. The present study has been carried out for measurement Hp (10) using TLD badges and TLD cards on water and PMMA phantom at 137Cs gamma energy to understand the recommended methodology of estimation of Hp(10). The present study should add some new information in radiation dosimetry
