Nuclear magnetic resonance tomography of the mammary gland - initial clinical results

Description

The report on hand deals with initial clinical findings gained with NMR examination of the mammary gland and gives a preliminary assessment of this examination method in comparison with other examination techniques. Of course, the number of 28 patients examined to-date, is too small a figure yet than to allow any statistically significant statement; nevertheless, these few results show what advantages and disadvantages may be expected from this novel examination method. Abstract (German)

Im vorliegenden Bericht wird ueber erste klinische Erfahrungen mit der MR-Untersuchung der Mamma berichtet und eine vorlaeufige Beurteilung dieser Untersuchungsmethode im Vergleich zu anderen Untersuchungsverfahren gegeben. Die bisher untersuchten 28 Patienten stellen natuerlich noch eine viel zu niedrige Zahl dar, um eine statistisch signifikante Aussage treffen zu koennen; dennoch geht aber aus diesen wenigen Ergebnissen bereits hervor, welche Vor- und Nachteile fuer diese neue Untersuchungsmethode zu erwarten sind.
