Mechanoactivation of solid-state iodochlorination of olefins by potassium dichloroiodate (1)

Description
The influence of mechanoactivation in a ball mill on reactivity of the new reagent, potassium dichloroiodate (1), in iodochlorination of olefins was studied. It is found that mechanical properties of olefins exert primary control over proceeding the solid-state reaction. When soft and low-melting crystals of olefins are crushed, the mechanical energy is consumed for their fusing but not for the activation of iodochlorination. 6 refs
