Repetitive decontaminations at Commonwealth Edison BWRs

Four of Commonwealth Edison Company's (CECo's) boiling water reactors (BWRs) have had both the primary reactor recirculation systems (RRS) and the reactor water cleanup systems (RWCU) decontaminated twice. A summary of these decontaminations is given. The two most recent decontaminations, Quad Cities-2, November 1986, and Dresden-2, December 1986, have not been previously reported but are briefly described here along with the results obtained. Each of these two decontamination projects was performed over a four-day period using a technique and procedures that have become almost routine with the CECo/LN decontaminations. Results of these decontaminations are given. The rate of recontamination at each plant between the two decontaminations is discussed.
