Radioecology of Vardar river

Description

In attempt to make an approach in determining the biogeochemical and radioecological characteristics of the river Vardar, in the near of which (location Krivolak) a Nuclear Power Plant is planned to be constructed, activation analysis as well as determination of 18O, 2H, 3H, 14C, U, Th, 226Ra, 40K, 137Cs, 90Sr and total beta activity on different samples from the investigated area have been performed. An assessment of internal exposure of the local population, as a result of possible radioactive release into the Vardar river under certain circumstances and assumption was also made. (Author)
