Instability in a shock wave propagating in gas with cosmic rays
Description
Instability of shock waves propagating in gas with cosmic rays is investigated. It is shown that the precursor, the shock front region caused by pressure of cosmic ray accelerated by wave, is unstable with respect to excitation of magnetoacoustic waves. The increment of instability is determined, the role of instability in generation of extremely high energy cosmic rays is discussed
