Description

The paper describes a vibratory compaction technique for the production of annular and tube-in-shell fuel elements. Extensive investigations showed that it is possible to achieve densities of up to 89% of theoretical using UO2 spheres for both types of fuel elements. With fused and crushed UO2, some lower densities (3-4%) were obtained. This work was done within the programme for the development of fuel elements for nuclear power stations in Yugoslavia. (author)
