Report of meeting of experts to discuss research on the biological individualisation of cancer radiotherapy including the problems of developing countries, 26th-30th April 1982, Juelich (Germany, F.R.). Pt. 1

Description

Radiotherapy is only one modality, though a very important one, involved in the treatment of the patient with malignant disease. The management of the individual patient with cancer requires the integrated use of all the treatment modalities available, in particular the consideration of the place of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and their appropriate combinations at appropriate times. Improvement and extension of the combination of conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy requires research and applications involving developing countries, where the clinical manifestations of cancer are often very different from those in industrialized countries.
