Critical analysis of the study made by the French Union of Electricity

Description

The author proposes a critical analysis of a prospective study performed by the French Union of Electricity on electricity production by 2030. He focuses on one of the scenarios of this study: a 1.5 per cent GDP growth and a share of 70 per cent for nuclear production in electricity production. The author more particularly discusses and criticizes the absence of any description of the energy production mix, the evolution of electricity demand from 2010 to 2030 for the different scenarios, their potential energy savings and their costs, the issue of substitution in applications which are traditionally associated with fossil energies, by electricity and their consequences in terms of CO2 emissions
