Description
The structural materials for fast breeder reactors are used in the temperature range where creep phenomena occur, metallic sodium is used as the coolant for the reactors, and the materials are subjected to neutron irradiation inside reactor vessels. Since sodium is liquid in the operation temperature range at normal pressure, internal pressure load is small, on the contrary, the transient thermal stress accompanying the temperature change of sodium is apt to occur. Accordingly, the consideration to the design so as to prevent the creep fatigue breakdown of structural materials becomes important. For the displacement-controlled type stress like thermal stress, since it is self balancing type, it depends on the balance of the stress and deformation behavior of materials themselves. As for the materials to be used, the actual results of application is regarded as important. The features of the data base at the initial period of development and the course of its development, the improvement toward the data base with high function, namely the effective utilization of computer resources, flexible data base structure, convenience for users and operation without manuals, and the functions supporting data input and retrieval, processing and output, are reported.
