Shell-model study of 4189Nb

  • 1. Univ. of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria

Description

There is a considerable body of experimental results for the energy levels and decay modes of 4189Nb. This evidence is compared with a shell-model study which assumes a closed 3888Sr core so that the configuration of 89Nb consists of three protons and two neutron holes in the 1g/sub 9/2/ and 2p/sub 1/2/ single-particle levels. The calculation can account for most of the observed spin assignments and lifetimes for M1 and E2 decay, although there are a few discrepancies. A paper has been submitted for publication
