IVDSA in the evaluation of congenital anomalies of great vessels in the thorax

  • 1. Tokai Univ., Isehara, Kanagawa (Japan). School of Medicine

Description

IVDSA was performed in 14 adult patients with great vessel anomalies in the thorax, including 7 cases of right side aortic arch, 1 case of double aortic arch, 3 coarctations and 3 great venous anomalies. IVDSA is very useful to establish final diagnosis in these patients for the following three reasons. 1) These anomalies can be well differenciated from mediastinal tumor or aneurysm by easy technique. 2) Almost same information can be obtained in IVDSA, compared with that given by conventional angiography. 3) IVDSA can offer precise information about blood flow dynamics and detail vascular configuration which is difficult to be evaluated by axial images of CT scan.
