A rapid synthesis of [fluoroacetyl-18F]fluoromelatonin (Nω-[18F]fluoroacetyl-5-methoxytryptamine), a potential diagnostic imaging agent

Description
An efficient synthesis of [fluoroacetyl-18F]fluoromelatonin (Nω-[18F]Fluoroacetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) starting from [18F]fluoride and ethyl p-toluensulfonyloxyacetate is described. The total time required for its synthesis is ca. 90 min. The radiochemical yield, purity and specific activity (end of bombardment) of the desired compound are 14.2%, >98%, and 540 mCi/μmol, respectively. (Author)
