Diffraction and X-ray spectroscopy for the evaluation of structure of amorphous binaries

Creators

Description

The evaluation of partial structure factors by means of diffraction methods is shown especially by presenting the example of amorphous Ni81B19. Three models up to now were presented to reproduce the experimental data. Since there is a lack of information concerning the symmetry of nearest neighbour's arrangement, the use of X-ray absorption methods, namely EXAFS and furthermore XANES became more and more important. Using an electron microprobe, XANES spectra can be obtained in the laboratory. The sensitivity of the method is shown presenting the example of amorphous Fe90Zr10 once without and once with 10% hydrogen. (orig.)
